A study from 2010 on 951 community-dwelling older persons showed that those with a greater sense of purpose were 2.4 times less likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease than those with a lower reported sense of purpose. Further, a 2014 study of 6,000 individuals spanning over 14 years showed that a greater sense of purpose decreased the chance of dying of any cause by 15%, regardless of age.
How can we live with purpose, add meaning to our lives and those around us, and be true to ourselves? By recognizing positive events, feeling gratitude, and choosing to benefit others. These can help us achieve these desires.
Having a purpose does not mean knowing the reason you’re here. It means knowing with certainty that you are here for a reason. This reason can be as simple as smiling at a stranger or showing kindness. Knowing that every human can contribute positively to the world at each moment can help us find purpose.

Being healthy is not about how you look - it is about your mindset, diet, and lifestyle. Diet alone does not create health, you must also take into consideration mental health, physical health, emotional health, and environmental health. An unhealthy diet can result in vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can negatively impact your mood and overall well being. Working on your mindset and focusing on positive, motivating thoughts can be transformational on a healing journey alongside proper nutrition. Are you moving daily? Sleeping? Connected? These all play a major role in true health. What do we recommend to create inner health that will reflect on the outside? Eat a nutrient dense diet, drink water, move your body, get consistent sleep, do something you love daily, remove toxins from your environment, and keep your relationships strong.

Looking for a simple Sunday night dinner? Look no further than @theroastedroot Paleo Chicken Tikka Masala. This recipe is full of flavor and is a much healthier alternative to ordering in. We hope you enjoy!
NGREDIENTS.
CHICKEN MARINADE.
2 to 3 pounds boneless chicken breasts chopped.
1 cup full-fat canned coconut milk.
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon.
1/2 tsp paprika.
1 tsp garam masala.
1/2 tsp sea salt.
FOR THE TIKKA MASALA SAUCE.
3 Tbsp ghee.
1/2 yellow onion finely chopped.
5 cloves garlic minced.
1 Tbsp fresh ginger peeled and grated.
2 tsp garam masala.
2 tsp ground cumin.
1/2 tsp ground cardamom.
1/4 tsp ground turmeric.
1 1/2 tsp sea salt.
1 1/2 cups full-fat canned coconut milk.
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes.
2 Tbsp tomato paste.
1 Tbsp pure maple syrup.
INSTRUCTIONS.
Stir together the ingredients for the chicken marinade in a mixing bowl, then add in the chicken. Stir until all of the chicken is saturated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
While the chicken is marinating, prepare the tikka masala sauce. Start by sautéing the onion in ghee until onion is translucent. Add the garlic, ginger, and spices and continue sautéing another few minutes to open up the flavor of the spices. Add the remaining ingredients for the sauce and bring to a gentle boil. Simmer for at least 15 minutes. Transfer to a blender and blend until creamy.
Turn on your Instant Pot to the Sauté function and allow it to heat up for a couple of minutes. Add the chicken, including the marinade and brown it for 3 to 4 minutes.
Pour in the tikka masala sauce, secure the lid, and select the Pressure Cook function. Change the setting to Low, and keep the pressure release valve set to Sealing (not Venting). Cook for 35 minutes, then allow the Instant Pot to go into Keep Warm Mode for an additional 20 to 30 minutes. Release any remaining steam using the quick release valve.
Serve Chicken Tikka Masala with cauliflower rice.

Meditation has multiple benefits for both your physical and mental health. It can reduce stress, lower anxiety, improve quality of sleep, and even help reduce chronic pain. The myriad benefits of meditation are a strong reason to start your practice today!
There are many different types of meditations you can explore, but here are some of our favorites.
1. Guided Meditation: Listening to a guided meditation provides an accessible entry into the practice of meditation. Your guide may instruct you on paying attention to your breathing, the sounds in your environment, and even how your body feels while sitting on your cushion or chair.
2. Focused Meditation: By focusing on a single thing—your breath, an object, or a mantra you repeat—you will quiet the mind as you narrow its focus. Focusing attention is an ideal tool for eliminating the multiple distractions that cause worry and stress.
3. Transcendental Meditation: For this specific type of focused meditation, a teacher or guru will assign you a specific mantra, word or phrase to repeat and focus on to achieve a state of profound calm and relaxation. It is simple to learn and effortless to practice.
4. Moving meditation: Mindful movements in a planned method, including tai chi, yoga or qi gong, offer mental relaxation by combining gentle physical motion and breathing exercises to restore balance. Because these practices require concentration as the body moves, they encourage focus on the present moment, which eliminates worrisome or stressful thoughts as the mind focuses on the task at hand.
There’s never a perfect meditation session. Sometimes the phone rings, sometimes the kids interrupt, sometimes the cat jumps in your lap. But commit to doing it anyway. Block time out on your calendar or set up a cell phone alert—even set your alarm clock 15 minutes early in the mornings so you can make the time to meditate.

How often have you given up on something because you felt you couldn't be "perfect" at it? Or maybe you couldn't be as consistent as you had planned and therefore just let it go?
Taking the smallest action in the right direction towards your goal is incredibly powerful. The more you do it, the more consistent it becomes, and then it is second nature. Small actions are the easiest way to create a habit.
Don't fear mistakes. Don't just stop because you messed up one day - or even fell off for an entire week or month. Everything you do eventually adds up and counts for something. You will get to where you want to be with small actions and motivation.
Let go of the perfection mindset and keep the momentum going. The tiniest step in the right direction si better than no step at all.
