Dr. David Ward uses a unique blend of specialties in working with his patients. He is a licensed Doctor of
Chiropractic and has completed extensive post-doctorate training in Functional Medicine. He is a trained
practitioner through The Institute for Functional Medicine and Apollo Health of the Bredesen ReCODE
Protocol, a comprehensive personalized program for the prevention and reversal of cognitive decline.
Dr. Ward specializes in working with persons with autoimmune disorders (especially
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), chronic pain, and in teaching lifestyle strategies for maintaining a healthy aging brain for
those at risk for cognitive decline.
His passion for helping patients with “unsolvable” health conditions was born out of his own health
challenges. After being diagnosed with systemic lupus at age 17 he floundered in the convention
medical system, enduring multiple severe flare-ups and short-lived remissions. He started a self-
exploration of the impact that lifestyle factors including nutrition, stress management and exercise had
on his disease process, eventually working with a Functional Medicine practitioner who became a
mentor to achieve long-term remission.
Dr. Ward often says, “Conventional medicine kept me alive, but functional medicine gave me my life.”
In addition to his Functional Medicine background, Dr. Ward holds a Master of Science degree in Sport
Health Science with a Sports Medicine concentration. He’s a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer and
Massage Therapist with specialty credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a
Performance Enhancement Specialist.
Today Dr. Ward lives a life of “Chronic Wellness” by exercising regularly, eating a healthy, anti-
inflammatory diet, managing stress, optimizing sleep and avoiding toxins. He spends his free time
practicing Tai Chi Qigong, lifting weights and hiking, biking and snowshoeing in the great Colorado
outdoors.
